Ingredients: 1 1/2 cup organic medium rye flour; 1 3/4 cup unbleached bread flour; 1 cup lukewarm water; 1 tbsp molasses; 1 1/2 tbsp active dry yeast or instant; 2 tsp caraway seeds; 1 tbsp minced dry onion; 1 1/2 tbsp olive oil or melted butter

So far my bread journey has been exhausting & rewarding! Rye took me a few tries, but I finally pulled through with a great loaf that has the perfect flavor. Out of the four tries the most important thing I noticed was Rye needs a little extra time f

Instructions

In a large bowl add yeast to warm water. Whisk and set aside for 5-10 minutes. Next add molasses + oil and stir. Begin adding the flour - one cup at a time! By the time I get to the last cup I use my hands to mix. Transfer dough to floured surface and knead for about 5 minutes. Place dough in oiled bowl and cover for an hour (OR MORE). Punch! Remove and knead for another few minutes. Place into greased loaf pan - cover and let rise for another hour (OR MORE). Remove cover and pop in the oven at 350f for 30 minutes. Remove from pan and let cool. Enjoy!
